OpenRC F1
Welcome!
If you found this page then you probably already know what the OpenRC F1 project is, but just in case you don’t: it’s a 3d printable car designed by Daniel Noree.
There are some great build guides out there, including a whole series by Daniel himself. But as a newbie to 3d printing, I struggled with knowing how to print all of the parts, and knowing which ones to print.
I did a lot of how to print part $x openrc f1
googling and I kept coming up short. It is made more complicated by how much the project has grown since the 2015 version. With many updates by Daniel, not to mention countless remixes out there, I also had a hard time knowing what pieces went with what versions.
That inspired me to create this guide. It helps me remember it for future prints, and it will hopefully be helpful for others as well.
What is this guide for?
This guide is meant to answer questions about the OpenRC F1 car like:
- What print settings should I use?
- How much filament does each piece need? And how much do I need for the whole car?
- What changes if I do/don’t want electronics in it?
- How long will it take to print?
- What parts do I need for the original 2015 version? 2017? 2018? 2019? Wait… why are there even so many versions?
- Mistakes to avoid
- And a lot more
Now you may be wondering: why should I even print one of these?
